Doppler measurements rely on the speed of sound. How does this relate to my navigation system’s accuracy?

DVLs rely on the speed of sound in water to determine a vehicle's speed over ground. However, speed of sound can differ with temperature and density (which depends on salinity and depth). To account for this, it is crucial that the DVL has access to accurate and constantly updating temperature and pressure readings from integrated temperature and pressure sensors. Without this, errors in velocity can occur quickly, making accurate and reliable temperature and pressure sensors a necessity. Watch this video to learn more!
