How does my vehicle navigate subsea when it is temporarily out of range of the bottom?

How do subsea vehicles continue to navigate effectively when their DVLs are out of range of the bottom?

One feature our DVLs offer which can alleviate this problem is water tracking. Instead of using the seafloor as a reference, the DVL uses information from a given layer of the water column. It knows information from that cell thanks to its current profiling abilities.

By switching to water track seamlessly, the vehicle will never lose position, even if it loses bottom track capability in deep or complex bathymetry.
