A single-point current meter deployed on an inter-tidal sandbank

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) takes off from the rippled sandy bed in the estuary, and as it climbs you can see the instrument frame with the Nortek Vector in the lower-left corner.

The Vector is positioned on a wide inter-tidal sandbank and you can see the main channel of the estuary in the center of the image.

The UAV then flies towards the instrument frame, providing a great overview of the deployment and also the varied nature of the seabed with ripples and bedforms of different dimensions.

The UAV then climbs to altitude, showing the vast expanse of sandbanks exposed at low tide and the open sea of Carmarthen Bay (UK) in the distance.
