Nortek in Brazil to partner with ADCP battery specialists Mitang
- Company & product news
Battery power is an important part of many ADCP deployments. In Brazil, however, having access to the type of high-quality batteries required to operate these instruments in underwater environments is not always an easy task. In addition, transporting batteries can be risky, and lower-quality batteries can pose safety risks to end users.
Mitang offers over 30 years of expertise in the field of subsea battery production, ensuring high quality and safety in all aspects of production. Nortek’s engineers have tested and approved each model of their batteries.
Nortek in Brazil is looking forward to working closely with Mitang as a specialized battery partner.
Adapting to local challenges to better meet customer needs
What forms the backdrop of this initiative? High transport costs, excessive bureaucracy, challenging tax systems and complex customs fees are factors that have made securing access to batteries challenging.
“Faced with these obstacles, many ADCP users end up manufacturing their own batteries, not always according to the best manufacturing practices, exposing themselves to risks during the manufacturing process and during use of the battery in connection with deployments,” says Diego Bitencourt, Director of Nortek’s Brazilian division.
“Additionally, we have seen that ADCP instrumentation has been damaged due to errors related to batteries,” Bitencourt adds.
By having a close partnership with a battery provider, Nortek will ensure that their customers in Brazil have access to the highest-quality power supply for their instruments on a faster timeline.
